OTHER INFORMATION
Currently on sabbatical in Himachal Pradesh, India. Interests include: aikido, weaving and other fiber arts, chess, writing science fiction, archery, home beer brewing, and computers. Other languages spoken: French, Spanish. Volunteered for 5 years at the SAGE Project in an Information Technology capacity. Flew Cessna 150’s and 152’s before learning to drive. To this day, I still don’t use my car horn. Have played piano, clarinet, and tenor saxophone, but not professionally. Recently published fiction in the anthology Lip Service, edited by Jess Wells (Alyson Publications).
WORK EXPERIENCE
5/03 –6/06 IT MANAGER/SYSTEMS ADMINSTRATOR, BABELAND/BABELAND.COM
During my time at Babeland, I have worked in several positions, mostly working with the systems and applications needed to support Babeland.com and its on-line retail operations. Current responsibilities have include: content development; management of email campaigns; supporting ecommerce, retail, and content management systems for the company as a whole, including four brick-and-mortar locations; supporting and upgrading the current network infrastructure; and directing future IT policy. Primary applications include: Miva Merchant, Order Manager, Plone, and the OTRS ticketing system. Currently on sabbatical from this position.
5/01 – 9/02 CONSULTANT, ACT 1 TECHNICAL SERVICES
Specialized in web production and web application development. Responsibilities included: building and maintaining corporate web sites, managing applications throughout software development life cycle, resolving navigation issues, and integrating third-party vendor software with existing site code. Primary languages used: HTML, JavaScript, Java, XML, and Perl.
11/99 – 3/01 CONTENT ENGINEER, CHARITABLEWAY
Built and maintained workplace giving sites for corporate clients using a combination of BroadVision, HTML, and JavaScript. Responsibilities included back-end product development for managing website content and assessing content management technologies. Also maintained and monitored content for charities.
1/99 – 11/99 ONLINE EDITOR/WEBMASTER, HAF ENTERPRISES
Performed editorial duties for both the print and online edition for Girlfriends Magazine and other publications. Editorial duties included writing, editing, and reviewing unsolicited submissions. Samples available on request. Also functioned as office IS manager, including technical support, upgrade support, and network management. Online duties included webmastering, DSL support, and IS support for both websites, including email management, HTML, CGI, and JavaScript coding.

Previous projects have included: public relations; editorial and content management services for websites; network management duties; working with proprietary software and webmaster responsibilities for websites.
6/93 - 6/95 COORDINATOR, COLLINS PUBLISHERS (SPECIAL MARKETS)
Performed daily preparation of book sales as well as analysis and reporting on monthly sales data. Created and maintained several databases for tracking mailing lists, contacts, and representatives. Also functioned as local technical support. Other responsibilities included preparation of sales material, customer service, and knowledge of mainframe systems for tracking book sales.

Worked on temporary assignments from Innovations Personnel Services as well as freelance within the Bay Area. Assignments included data input and word processing.
3/92 - 3/93: FINANCIAL ANALYST, NORTH AMERICAN MORTGAGE CO.
Responsibilities included technical aspects of preparing data for financial analysis. Also performed media work, such as creating diskettes or 9-track tapes for loan portfolio transactions; and database work, such as creating and running Transact-SQL queries against a Sybase database. Other responsibilities included ad hoc reporting of certain aspects of NAMC’s portfolio, based on raw data; acting as liaison to the Data Processing Department for mainframe reporting projects and CPI programming, and technical maintenance of Busch Analytics Evaluator Software.
4/91 - 3/92 PC ANALYST, NORTH AMERICAN MORTGAGE CO.
Performed ad hoc reporting on aspects of NAMC’s sub-serviced loan portfolio. Prepared reports and magnetic media for loan reporting to subservicing clients. Functioned as network administrator for the pilot version of a major Sybase network database. Responsibilities included loading data to the database, performing maintenance work, and creating programs as required. One such program performed loan portfolio evaluations. Also provided desktop PC support.
