I’m putting this statement here because I truly believe that once some info has hit the Internet, it never really goes away, attaining some kind of informational immortality.
Frankly, the whole Terry Schiavo thing has got me spooked. The idea that total strangers, wielding their ugly cultish righteousness like a club, can keep me alive even if my partners might know my real wishes. Even when it can’t possibly do any good for me or for them if I stay alive. Even when it doesn’t make a damned bit of sense. . The circus-like stuff surrounding this woman’s non-life and non-death has me creeped out beyound belief–especially with the idea that George W. Bush himself can decide to keep my ass on this mortal coil long after I decide otherwise.
So. Now hear this. If my life ever gets to that vegetable-like point, or if my quality of life goes downhill to the point where it is no longer bearable, I do not want to stick around. I don’t want my loved ones going broke while they watch me not die. Nope, just get me the hell out of Dodge.

I SO agree with everything you said, Nyondo! Now I’m going to go quote you on my blog to be saved for eternity, too.
Thanks!

Make sure you have your papers in place!
Doen’t matter if your gay or stright married or not. Cover Your Ass!
#1 Last Will and Testament
#2 Durable Power of Attorney
#3 Health Care Directive & Supplement (i.e. Living Will)
#4 Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care
#5 Renew annually with Attorney and a notary of the public
Make sure attorney keeps it on file for you, that your doctor, & everyone named in your will has a copy.
If you have to have any kind of surgery done in/out patient, that you supply the hospital at check in with a copy of Health Care Directive & Supplement along with a copy of your Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, and that the surgeon has a copy before hand.
This is the best chance you can give yourself to have your wishes fulfilled.
It does not matter if you are married or single, straight or gay, young or old, in order to protect yourself and your loved ones you need to have this done.
Laws very from state to state, so if you move you need to have a Lawyer in the state you move to go over your will and make the appropriate wording changes for that state.
