Don’t Touch That…”Answer Call” Button

So last week was kinda interesting, because a number of people stopped answering their cell phones. After a couple of conversations with Tibetan friends, Lena ferreted out the truth. They weren’t picking up calls because there were a couple of phone numbers…OF DOOM…that were known to kill people who answered calls from these numbers on their cell phones. Our friends all had stories they’d heard about folks who had just keeled right over dead, right after answering a call from one of the phone numbers…OF DOOM.
Except for the story of this one guy, who only ended up paralyzed, because when he got a call from one of the phone numbers…OF DOOM…he canceled the call, rather than answer it.

And who am I to question such things? I get up every morning to walk around a lake that’s supposed to be there because Padmasambhava wouldn’t burn properly.

Anyway, about the phone numbers…OF DOOM…should you receive a call from any of the Indian (country code 91) phone numbers below. DON’T PICK UP. ‘Mkay?

No need to thank me. Your happiness–and mobile phone safety–are all that matter.

  1. Any chance you remember me (David’s friend)from October 2006 in Tso Pema? I Just happened on your site recently and enjoy your posts. I would like to make a contribution to the health fund but haven’t figured out how. Although my donations will be small (by US standards) I do know what can be done with US $ in India. Blessings to you, Lena, and Joy. Shanti, Joan

  2. Hello, Joan:
The easiest way to donate to the fund by far is to visit Joy’s blog (see the link in the right-hand column). On the front page is a graphic recording what we’ve received so far. Under that is a button you can click to donate via PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to donate).

  3. You’ll be with Joy in Milwaukee, perhaps? I’m going to try SO hard to be there. I know nothing of your mission, &c but read you both religiously (no pun intended…maybe) and would admire to shake the hands of you whose words I read from 180 degrees around the world.

  4. No, actually. It’s my job to hold down the fort in Tso Pema, while Joy, Lena, and Rimpoche tour the States. This is a good thing, though, because that way various sponsees and patients have a way to keep in touch with Rimpoche and Lena.

Give everyone’s hands an extra shake for me….
